Wisdom

Our beloved Prophet, may the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him and his family and Companions, said: “The word of wisdom is the lost property of the believer, so wherever he finds it he has a right to it.” This is a sahih hadith. (Source: Jami’ / Sunnan at-Tirmidhi and Sunnan Ibn Majah)

‘Ali, may Allah be pleased with him wa karram’Allahu wajhu, is reported to have said: “Take wisdom and it would not harm you from what bag it came.” (see al-Sakhawi, Al-Maqasid Al-Hasanah, p. 192).

May Allah teach and grant us wisdom!

    Salam brother,

That is a good question masha’Allah.

I thought it was sahih, I mean it was not my own opinion but somebody elses, I forgot the source to be honest.

Shaykh al-Qarni uses it in “Don’t be sad” but that is not a book of hadith checking of course.

Here is some research done on the status of the hadith:

If you can’t read the Arabic I’ll explain it below in summary.

We conclude from this that it has not been classified as sahih – according to that site but it is a matter of ijtihad in fact – but it could reach hasan.

The main qualification is da’if (jiddan) but also mursal, munkar and matrook as we can read in the research.

    Barakallahu fik.

    H.
